On many other transmitters (separate TX/RX) that switch is called the
spotting switch. Works a charm. However, leaving the oscillator(s)
running "all the time" would make your own TX the only thing you hear
unless you could also hear the always running oscillators in nearby
bombers - heterodynes etc. A momentary contact switch would be best.
