I also prefer the LM-* series.  The LM-* also has signal modulation as a
standard selectable function.  The vast majority of SCR-211-* sets do
not.

The bulky SCR-211-* package was generally, out of necessity, stowed away
somewhere near the radio operator position.  The small installed LM-*
units were shock-mounted near the operating position, ready to use,
cal book stowed under the set.  That was not practical with the SCR-211-*,
so that may lead to a false conclusion that the SCR-211-* was utilized
less commonly in the USAAF than the LM-* was in the USN.
