Added note. Many thanks to those who referred to the "Green Books" in a
thread that ran for a little while. I have all three volumes. The first
was somewhat of a shocker on our preparedness. (Almost as bad as our
preparedness for the current regime! Will we survive as a Constitutional
Republic?)
I am 1/3rd way thru the last volume. Very interesting! Not "easy reading"
but very informative and revealing. If you want the inside "skinny" on
equipment never mentioned in movies reading the books is very informative.
When I was a kid in the Civil Air Patrol we had a bunch of the SCR-511's
(Guidon set) they got named
"pogo stick" radios by our communications leader. I never saw ANY available
on the surplus market. They would have made a nice pack set after some
physical modifications and probably would have been a better radio than the
SCR=536 (BC-611) for amateur use.
