Under the "tilting at windmills" rubric, I thought perhaps a web page
dedicated to the lovely and popular ATC/ART-13 maintenance autotune
crank might be in order. If one has a home machine shop or friend with
one, they could easily make it from the fabrication drawings I sketched
up from an original crank (grateful thanks to AB5S) at
http://aafradio.org/garajmahal/ART-13_lineshaft_crank.html
I've made a couple of them for friends (out of stainless steel rather
than the original Type I cadmium plated steel because I prefer the look
and feel of stainless), and they aren't difficult to make. It's a nice
Saturday morning project. I added a knurled thumbscrew with a 4-40
thread to make it easier to attach to the end of the line shaft. It
eliminates twiddling with a screwdriver, though not the danger of loss
through Murphy's efforts. I keep it tied to the crank with a nut when
I'm not using the crank. That way only the nut gets lost when you're
using it....:-)
