[ARC5] Trivial question. Meaning of "SCR"

Speaking of speaking another language called "King's English"...

(This is not meant to offend anyone...by the way!)

There was a request that was taken quite normally in England that meant a
totally different thing to us "Yanks">
A British girl who knew her boyfriend pretty well might make a
request:"Would you please come by my flat early tomorrow morning and knock
me up please?" I gathered it was a common request until after WW2 when
they stopped using it as the Yanks took it the wrong way!

We had a fellow who attended a social event in England going to a school on
a piece of gear. Everyone was introducing themselves and there were some
ladies there as well. Our chap was introducing himself: "Hi! I'm Randy!".
He said he wondered "why" he was getting peculiar looks until someone told
him what that meant in
British" slang!

Wireless in the British Empire. However, radio was in use here in the
"colonies" even before World War I. Remember, Americans and the British are
separated by a "common" language!

I have some difficulty with "Set, Complete, Radio" if this terminology
dates from WW1. Surely radio of that era was referred to as "wireless".

"Wireless" as a term was so entrenched in the public's minds that even
as late as 1970, my grandmother and my father's uncle and aunt (all
80+) still used the term in preference to "radio".
