    Having hauled out the green books, I note a couple of perhaps 
interesting entries:
   In 1941 the Army wanted 8,000 SCR-274's at a cost of $6,450,000 ($102 
million in 2013 dollars) - the second largest item for radio gear then 
after  $7 million for the vehicular  SCR-245. The SCR-274 was priced at 
$2,431 ($36,394 in today's dollars) and a complete com outfit for a B-24 
cost $11,262 ($178,000 now)

     I suspect the com gear on current USAF aircraft cost more than the 
inflated value of the SCR-274-N
