    Looking in the U.S. Army History of the Signal Corps, V. I, "The 
Emergency," before 1941, p. 28, SCR is defined as "Set, Complete, 
Radio," but the author, Dulany Terrett, admits that the public came to 
define it as "Signal Corps Radio," though to a Signal Corpsman, a set 
included a receiver, transmitter, antenna and power supply.

     Incidentally, Terrett says one of the reasons the trf design stayed 
around as long as it did was that Armstrong's superhetrodyne was "mired 
in an eddy of patent difficulties." The disputed patents expired in 1931.
