Like many here, I too have and read the book.  I found it quite 
interesting and historically illuminating.  Its too bad that 99% of the 
crystal manufacturers listed are long gone.  Its a bit rough getting 
them made these days, with any economy at all.  Having been to the areas 
of Brazil where these crystals come from (even today), it was good to 
have the book to finish the story.  One thing did come to light was the 
issue of a few of the Signal Corps folks getting into trouble, down 
there, that may have caused larger problems.  What is also not discussed 
were certain political issues at the time.  Fortunately, Brazil was a 
true ally, unlike some others south of the border.  In fact, Brazil was 
the only South American country to actually send troops to combat areas. 
There is far more to these stories but not germain to the big picture, 
here.
