[ARC5] Low plate voltage tubes

In the January 1957 issue of Radio & Television News there was an article on the
development of these tubes. It was stated that the first of these types were "ordinary"
designs with special processing to reduce electron emission from the plate. If operated
at normal voltages the processing benefit would be lost and their performance just
like their standard prototypes.

Space charge operation was a popular gimmick in the 1930's. There were plans
in Radio Craft and Popular Science magazines for building receivers using this
technique with ordinary tubes.
