Yet early commercial and HB filter rigs were built around 50-455kc IF cans,
either WW2 surplus or commercial from JW Miller, Meissner, etc.
Who can honestly say how many conversions or construction projects were
actually finished yet a few seem to enjoy pointing out the few examples on
fleabay that werent. I have seen far more examples there of excellent
homebrew.
