Actually, Vishay has been pretty good about managing their companies. They
have built quite a nice portfolio. They made very high precision, but
miniature, resistors in the mid 1960s that were reasonably priced and met
spec.
Danaher, OTOH, has gobbled up much of the US test equipment market,
including Fluke and Tektronix, cut off support for older, but still
recent, product, and largely shipped production to asia. I used to love
Tek and always used their gear, but now would not take anything
post-Danaher as a gift.
