How about using an ultrasonic cleaner?  Obviously you wouldn't put an HF
solution directly in the pan, but if you left it dry and put the crystal
and etching solution in a capped jar in the empty pan, would that work?

Since these cleaners use piezo ceramic transducers to create the
vibrations, it would be one piezo device etching another!
