  I'm also interested in this subject.  I'll rephrase the "Q" to be more
  precise, since the obvious difference in IF transformers will be
  affected by on L-C ratio, and the impedance transformation (turns)
  ratio.
  What design criteria apply to mixer stages, as distinct from (for
  example) the detector stage?
  How would the design of the IF transformer for a cascode mixer differ
  from the IF transformer for a "conventional" 6BE6, for example?
  Ditto for a Pullen Mixer.  (Hey Ian!  Couldn't resist slipping in that
  "Q")

  So - if someone swapped the "cans" in Ken's radio, what does this
  mean?
