[ARC5] T-22 Woes

I’m not going to have very much time for radios until maybe Friday night at
the earliest, so while I was lying in bed last night I decided to get up
early this morning to get in some radio time before work and see if T-54B
was indeed the culprit.

I wound a few turns of hookup wire over the base of T54 to simulate a max
coupled condition and was delighted to see about 15W of output on the
wattmeter! Adjusting the roller inductor peaked the output to a little
over 20W – that’s running about 350V or so on the plates through a 67 pF
coupling capacitor then through the 4:1 UNUN.

WhooooHoooooo!! There be power there!!

This was a toughie for me, and was a great experience to really dive into
the innards of the T-22. I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for a
replacement transformer. A buddy in Texas recently decided to get out of
the mil radio aspect of our hobby and sold me most of his stuff at a good
buddy price, and there are a few bags of parts in those boxes. I know I
saw a transformer in there, but I didn’t check to see if it was for a T-22.

Thanks for your help and comments guys – it’s great to have you guys on
here to help out and offer suggestions!
