[ARC5] 70+ year old errors

In the 1970's a friend of mine got a KWM-2 from a scrap yard.
It was in baddd shape.
He recovered a few parts and I would up with what was left.
During disassembly, I found a wire that was properly inserted into a
tube socket pin and bent over as it should.
There was the Collins inspection paint on the pin, but, no solder!.

While disassembling a Motorola multi gang rapid charger for walkie
talkies, I found a wire that went through a lug as it should, but,
again, no solder.

I buy boards and assemblies at hamfests to reclaim the parts.
On one board, an IC pin was bent under the IC from where it was
inserted on the board.
The board was wave soldered and had a QA stamp.
In this case, the IC pin probably was soldered, at one time, but,
thermal cycling and/or vibration broke the connection.

This QA problem seem to be spread across most companies and is not
getting any better.

In the first two cases above, both pieces of equipment probably
passed final, functional, testing.
The both probably worked until vibration, thermal cycling and
corrosion cased the connection to go Hi Z.

I would think that anyone that has repaired equipment has a story or
two about defects from the factory.
