Mike,
I'm afraid your kidding yourself. I spend a lot of time helping
people struggling with their PCs, as I have always done. WS19 access
is well beyond many ordinary users of PCs, and from what I am told there
is no help for people who get stuck. Many have complained that they
only have a standard "yahoo", "hotmail" or "gmail" email address - they
have never used an address supplied by an ISP, and setting up one can be
quite tricky, and without one there is no access.
As for "free to everybody" - that isn't true either. If you happen to
be someone who has fallen out with Keith Watt, then there is no
access. I haven't fallen out with Keith Watt because of something
that I have done - by my position in vmars (back in 2003/4) I was the
first to fall foul of him, and his lies, manipulation and bad temper.
I couldn't fail to challenge him because I had a responsibility to vmars
members and the Royal Signals Museum. And he doesn't like being exposed
for what he is - so I am not welcome.
At the end of the day is up to people like you and the rest of the
ordinary members of bodies like vmars to demand and insist that those in
power accept and obey rules of decent behaviour. Keith Watt gets away
with his behaviour because people like you let him get away with it.
I set up vmars with enough rules in place to ensure that those in charge
could not abuse their position of power. Trouble was that there was no
enforcement of those rules unless the ordinary members of the society
insisted on enforcing them. And in 2009 those rules were
comprehensively trashed by people like Bronek Wedzicha, John Keeley,
Peter Chadwick, Brian Thomas, etc. Where were the members to enforce
those rules? Well about 100 voted to support the offenders, and the rest
stayed silent as always. I'm afraid you get what you vote for, and
thus people like Keith Watt and the rest will fluorish - and people like
me will walk away and leave you all to it.
