[ARC5] A interesting event...

Today I got an e-mail from a fellow-ham who used to live in a small town 
near here. He was back "home" visiting relatives over the weekend, but was 
now headed back to Oregon where he now lives with his family..

He told me that while he was home, he had stopped in a little, out-of-the-way 
antique store run by a couple of sisters. The store is open only a few days a 
week.

He told me that they had an essentially new "RAT-3" receiver, with 
instruction book.

My heart almost stopped.

I called Brave Dave to ask if he had ever heard of such a thing. He told me, 
"No, but that didn't mean it might not exist."

My friend then gave me directions to the store, and despite it being Sunday 
and although the store would be most likely closed, I thought I would at least 
go find the place, take a look at anything that might tell me when it would be 
open, and return home.

It is an unusually nice day here for a drive in the country anyway.

I found the place easily enough. It is open Wednesday through Saturday 
from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Then my friend sent me some cell-phone photos of it.

It is a DAK-3.

Sigh...

Oh, well....
