Case in Point:

This past wekend, a bunch of us had occasion to help a senior OP clean
out his hobby building (yes, a real building....). Weeks ago, we all
divied up the real nicer vintage equipment and are working on it, at
this time. Returning to finish the promised job, there were countless
items that, were it a few years ago, would have been scarfed up in a
heartbeat. Not the case, however, with our group of mostly older gents
(sic). There were beat-up BC-779's, some Brit VHF equipment, countless
AM marine radios, et al. These went into the designated pick-up truck,
destined for I know not where. We had promised to get the good stuff
working and not Ebay it, etc, which we won't.

I was offered a Hallicrafters S-37 that had a patina of rust on it. No
thank you. There was a National something-another, also simply too far
gone for an investment in time by most of us. Somebody got them... not
me. Mind you, I WILL go the extra mile-and-a-quarter to get some things
going. Its just that I won't take on everything that falls in front of
me, not anymore. Even some (but not all) the stuff with good parts
possibilities? No... got bins and bins of that....

But... there were some chassis and panels with some nice panel meters...
Hmmm... Maybe I can call and see if they've gone to that County
facility, or not?

Regards
