[ARC5] ARC-branded PYE FM radio

I have a couple of high band VHF FM radios, branded with the ARC logo, but
built by PYE in Great Britain in 1965.
These are airborne 4 channel units that were used by firefighting aircraft
to talk to the lead plane and ground units.
They were removed , perhaps 20 years ago, from PV2 harpoon air tankers used
in in the Western US.
There are Hybrids, with five tubes in the transmitter chain and receiver RF
amplifier, the balance of the devices are solid state.
Does anyone know the history of this relationship between ARC and PYE?
