I have three BC-779s here, all awaiting overhaul of one kind or another. 

One is completely stock (with original power supply), one has been HORRIBLY hacked a la 
that "Ultimate Super Pro" article from a long time ago (I have a copy of the article), and one is 
in pretty bad shape with no power supply. My nephew found the last one in a barn in Montana 
and gave it to me.

I may start on that one first... :-)

I really like the BC-779, by the way. 

The only real "mod" I intend to make to the original one is to add that N-750 or N-1500 3 pfd 
cap to the HFO tuning cap to reduce warmup drift. This mod was suggested by a 
Hammarlund engineer WAAAAAAAY back about the time the HQ-140 came out.
