[ARC5] need a laugh?

It's not an original local control, Ken. Originals have a ridge top and
bottom, since they were manufactured from the same blank plate as all
the thousands of others delivered with the sets over the years. Couple
of examples of ARC mods to that plate are at:
http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/RAT_Set.JPG (from 1939 and has a serial
number plate added) and http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/arc5-4.jpg (from
1944 and has small blocking plate added to prevent the use of CW.) You
can see it's the same local control, though. Originals never had a
phone plug, either.
For a while GL Electronics made these quick install plates for hams who
didn't want to roll their own. They're pretty rare in themselves these
days.
