Better check to see if the copyrights are still in force before putting anything from 73 up on the web.  I'm not sure about their stuff; however, I'd feel fairly certain that CQ material is probably still copyrighted.  CQ has an archive web site but you can only view a very few pages of anything before you're told you must register -- and PAY -- before going any further.

Remember:  The road to (legal) hell is paved with good intentions.

    I think Gordon authored an earlier article in CQ - 1965, as I recall.
Masterly, well-informed, good value. I have an ancient Fordigraph copy
at home somewhere.

While browsing some 1960's 73 magazines, I came across:

73, June, 1966
The First and the last Q-5er
Gordon White

It gives a quite complete history of the Q-5er type command radios.

I wonder if this is scanned and on the web somewhere. 
Likely I can scan it and mail it so someone who can make it available
to all if it is not.
