Yes. That does not sound at all like the LDE I experienced. There are several reasons mine 
wasn't short-vs-long path: 1) conditions were lousy, 2) it was on 80 meters in the late winter 
time, 3) it was night, 4) there was no DX at all on the low end, 5) it was during a sun-spot low, 
6) the band was unusually quiet, 7) true LDEs are very rare. 8) I was hearing my own signal 
coming back to me, not someone else's: what I was hearing was an exact copy of my own 
fist, keying, characters, and signal, like it had bounced off a mirror somewhere a long ways 
away,  9) etc.
