My first two calls where WN3PTU and WA3PTU
I could never come up with a mnemonic better than  "Polish Thermal Unit"

Don't ask me to define it

1977 or 1978... somewhere in there.
I went for my Extra when the FCC came to Shreveport, LA
for a testing session.  A friend, Tom Gates, was there going
for his as well.  They had started issuing the 2x1 calls for Extras and I was hoping to get issued one of the "W" or "K" calls, but was a little late for those.  Tom and I both passed.
Tom Gates was issued "AB5G."
I (Stinson) was issued "AB5S." I don't know if someone at the FCC was being nice
or if it was just chance.   Tom is SK now and someone else has AB5G.
I would never consider changing mine.
Besides- it's great for CW.
