Some years ago, Hank Brown wired up an ARN-6 into his pick up truck and "navigated" to the MRCG meet in San Louis Obispo CA from his home down south. Pretty cool to see it working!

Subject: [ARC5] ARN-6 in F-80 and F-86D
I have the pilot's manual on the F-80 and it shows the dome for the ARN-6
antenna was mounted in that black radome area are at the upper tip of the nose.
On the F-80A-1 there was a landing light in that spot; the aircraft had a
BC-1206 but no ARN-6 or -7. The T-33 installation was similar to the F-80.
In the top of the bubble canopy on the F-80 there was the "sense" antenna for
the ARN-6.
Just what is a "sense antenna" anyway?
On the F-86D the ARN-6 antenna dome was under the canopy aft of the pilot.
