The ARN-6 developed all voltages necessary to run the radio and the 
AS-313 loop.  There were several control boxes for the unit and two were 
possible, e.g. front and rear cockpit.  The peabut inverter was 
typically for a remote compass setup.  It provided 28v @ 400 Hz and low 
current.  Just enough to run the servo transmitter and 
receiver/indicator.   I had a 12v version in a Cherokee 140 back in the 
late 60's.  They are whiskey compasses, but a bit more stable that the 
little ones normally found mounted "up front".  Of course, if you lost 
DC power, no compass, hence both.
