Well, I fired it up this afternoon: it appears to tune from about 29 through 32 MHz at the 
moment. 

And it is quite obvious that the original owner never did finish his masterpiece.

However, it also appears that it can be made to work pretty well after all.

At this point, there are several "issues":

1) It appears to be deaf as a post

2) Calibration is not correct.

3) Audio output appears to be very low.

4) Alignment, both IF and RF, is WAAAAAAY off.

On the other hand:

1) Everything appears to work.

2) It is stable.

3) It doesn't look awful, despite the fact that the outside is totally covered in MFP.

4) Several of the tubes still have the ARC logo on them.

5) There is no hum or crackly noises coming from it.

Well, we'll see...
