Absolutely not.

Although I am most certainly no expert, it sounds to me as though you either 
have a brush not making contact, the commutator insulators are "too high", 
or the filters are bad.

About the worst you should be hearing from a good dynamotor is a very 
pretty "singing" sound. Quite high-pitched and not very loud.

In any case, you should be certain the bearings are good, clean, and 
properly lubricated before you ever run any of those.

Mike Hanz has a web page devoted to restoring dynamotors which is 
absolutely excellent.

If anyone here is an expert on dyamotors, it would be him.
