Since the inquiry about the books was posted earlier today, a few more
more have popped up on ABE Book site. Coincidence or reaction?
Some one mentioned earlier today that the third book is some what "radar
centric." However, that doesn'tsurprise me. The SigCorp had CW and
AM prior to WW2. Yes, they developed better equipment but the two
basic modes remained the same. Radar, on the other hand, was a new
gee-whizz, superhigh freq thing. Imagine: You could see aircraft at a
distance in any weather (except for certain frequencies and certain
weather!), night or day. We take radar for granted today, but in early
WW2, radar bordered on magic.
There's another book called "A Race on the Edge of Time." Its about the
development of radar during WW2. Reads like a novel and shows how radar
saved the Allies bacon.
I would expect the SigCorp to show case radar. It was a major, major
accomplishment. (Not to forget the Brits developing the magnetron.)
