have "sunk" the idea of buying ARC-5 sets from overseas. About a decade
ago (before "9/11" influenced things too much) I could buy a "command"
receiver for $40 to $100 and pay $34.50 for postage. The fact that
delivery might take one to three months was just fine in my book.
Postage went up to $70 (approx) and that made any purchase a LOT more
expensive - doubling or tripling the price of a set. At the moment two
"command" capacitors are listed on eB.
Costs are:
Tx capacitor Postage
#1 $49.oo $16.oo (has nice spur gears)
#2 $11.oo (start) $24,oo
This increase in postage rates has effectively ended any interest I
might have in "new" command equipment.
