Has anyone taken a regular BC-454 with bandspreading a step further and
changed the first IF stage to a mixer to 455kc, added a wide and sharp
ceramic filter, used a 455kc IF can for the 2nd stage, etc?

Then with external converters it would be a half decent radio to mate to a
vintage AM/CW transmitter such as a DX-60.

The BC-453 is too sharp for quality AM.
