I am more than not sure. All the major newsreels were
there and covered it. I have certainly seen newsreel
pictures, with sound, of the surrender ceremony and
McArthur's announcement at the end. FWIW, Fox Movietone
News has its complete archives. I was involved in a small
way with transferring them to high-definition tape. Its
amazing what is there. FWIW, the two largest American
newsreels were The Paramount News and Fox Movietone News.
There were also some smaller ones, Pathe, Universal, March
of Time, plus British newsreels (News of the World and
others). All covered the surrender ceremonies.
