David,

This is very interesting (and exciting...). These little buggers then can be
experimented with to take the place of crystals which (I'd have to order for
much more money than these chips) in the Collins 18S-4 and the 618S-1
aircraft HF transceivers I'm planning to put on the air. These rigs
presently are populated with useless (for amateur purposes) aeronautical
frequency crystals.

Thanks for publishing your experience with these programmable oscillators!

Subject: Re: [ARC5] Using Programmable Oscillators - Idea

Just had one of them dim bulbs go off in the
dark and windy caverns between my ears....

The BC-942 (R-28) receives 100-155 MC
with an IF of 6.9 MC.
Since the 12SH7 is, in effect, an untuned Pierce
xtal oscillator followed by a Quadrupler,
the output of this stage is tunable from 15.5 to 18.5 MC.

Since these little oscillators can be programmed for
these higher freqs, if I ordered those wouldn't
they drive the stage more efficently?
