Look at the auction item at http://www.ebay.com/itm/261169244758 to see
how "identical" the BC-224-A is to any BC-348-* or other BC-224-*. :-)

I've never had one, but I have the 1936 manual for it. This is the first
version of the finest one-unit aircraft liaison receiver in the world from
1936 to post-WWII. A very historic set!

See Mike Hanz's description and photos of the insides at:

  http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/1935/BC-224-A.html
  http://aafradio.org/docs/BC-224-A_schematic.png

While you're at it, look at the transmitter used with it (BC-307-A):

  http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/1935/BC-307-A.html
  http://aafradio.org/docs/BC-307_schematic.png

These both make up the SCR-238 liaison set.

The URL also shows the BC-189 predecessor to the BC-224-A in pre-WWII ground
sets like the SCR-177-*, -188-*, and -193-*.

Wonderful stuff, Mike! (But you need a 1936 SCR-242 (BC-310) RDF set to go
along with these.)
