In place of a 717A
Stick a 7 pin socket, a resistor and 6AK5 in an old octal base and you are
ready to go in a 12/24V world.
For remote/semi remote 7 pin tubes you can try the first of the series
6BA6/12BA6, and then 6BZ6, 6DC6, 6GM6 and a few others. For the best of the
lot, the 6EH7, use a 9 pin socket. Pay attention to suppressor grid pinouts
and filament currents.
Since it is such a simple radio it would make an excellent test bed.
