[ARC5] An "Extra Class" Question:

Remember that big round device in the MD-7 modulator?  It's mounted in a clip, with black plastic caps on either side; it's connected across the secondary of the modulation transformer.  It is some sort of varistor.

Dave Stinson, or Mike Hanz, didn't you and I discuss this some time back, on or off list?  I forget (shame on me).  What are its properties?

Hmm, maybe this goes to prove that the old adage is true -- you can't leave the Command Set out of any good radio.  For any project to work properly, it must contain at least one part from a Command Set.
