[ARC5] 6AC7 and 6AB7

Never owned one, I used crystals for mobile and a Johnson VFO for fixed operation with my TBS-50D in the 50's.

The Harvey_Wells Bandmaster VFO uses a 6AG7. That plus a small
VR tube packed into a small wedge-shaped enclosure sits under the
  main unit.

I cant remember seeing a 6AG7 in a VFO. As a VFO buffer/crystal oscillator, yes.

Not sure if I recall any articles about the 6AC7 in a VFO. Are you possibly confusing it with the 6AG7? That was a very popular oscillator tube and worked great in a VFO. I built a couple with 6AG7s, so can testify to it.

Even the 6SK7 was a semi popular VFO tube.
