Well, it certainly has been "interesting". I had originally only wanted to rebuild 
a BC-454 for 80 meters, and didn't intend to go this far. Unfortunately, I 
chose one out of my stack that had been hacked worse than I had first 
imagined it could have been.

For any ham of the period to go to all this trouble to get a 10 meter receiver 
seems like way too much work.

Actually, re-reading an article I have here by Gordon White, he mentioned 
the 6AB7, which is a slightly different version of the 6AC7....but the receiver 
he was using this with had its filament string re-wired to all parallel.

Mine is still set up for 24 V filaments, so I have to use a 12 volt tube.

I think the 717A is a 6.3 volt tube, but will have to check on that.

The easiest upgrade to the RF and IF amps is the 12SG7. I have a few of 
those and may try them after I get all the present issues sorted out.
