Hi Dennis,

If you really want it to keep it's original appearance it's not
impossible to restuff the cans with modern caps. Most times the modern
caps won't need as much space and so they'll fit - so say people have
done it. I remove them and add them to my collection. Some day I might
get around to restuffing them.

I have also seen where some people have saved the outer wrappers from
*some* of the paper & fail caps and mounted the new caps 'inside'. Some
others have made new wrappers to look like the originals, potted the new
caps, and wrapped them with the new wrappers. Just some hints about how
you might do it.

I don't have the interest in keeping the inside looking like original. I
do prefer to have old radios working "as designed" and looking like they
did way back when - but not necessarily looking like brand new. I won't
be putting product detectors in my command receivers, etc. My guess is
nobody will be looking inside mine to see that those original cans have
been replaced by smaller caps wired directly on the terminals they are
to bypass. I also have some resistors made in Asia in there <evil grin>.

Good luck with your project.

Merry Christmas. Ho, ho, ho!
