I just took a close look at the schematic for the "P" model: 39-1(A,B,C) has
all three high-side terminals shorted TOGETHER, but NOT to ground, so as
to provide 1.5 MFD capacitance at that point.
The designers simply needed 3 X the capacitance at that point that one
section could provide, so they simply paralleled all three sections.
This is completely normal.
Either leave it alone, or if it is bad, replace it with one 1.5 MFD capacitor.
BTW, a BC-348 with a BC-946B "Q-5er" was my very first really GOOD
receiver. They are really excellent receivers.
