Yes; that is used for receiver muting during transmit so need to be
jumpered for normal operation.

Have you opened your dynamotor and lubricated the bearings?
Running it with 70-year-old-grease will almost certainly damage it.

Do not lubricate the split gears that drive the tuning capacitor.
If someone else has, you'll need to clean-out all the old congealed goo.

I'll dig out my "M" manual and write more later- gotta get ready for work.
