A tip:
If you use the "sidetone" from the MD-7,
you will need to insert a large series resistance in
the line going to the receiver. The sidetone is much too
loud, especially if you use headphones.
Don't try some sort of "limiting diodes" ala telephone receivers
or other parallel solution, since the sidetone comes from a winding
on the mod transformer and anything you do to limit that line
will be reflected back to the modulation windings.
Are you using the receiver and transmitter racks?
How about the antenna switch?
