Yes, although the ceramic insert is more like the postwar equipment.

I'm afraid so - but I'll gently observe that your mixer makes a 
marvelous base for an HF (2-30MHz) parametric receiver, which the US 
Army explored back in the 1960s with the density rise in analog 
battlefield comms.  You need roughly 5x the top frequency for a 
parametric IF design.  They do have an amazing dynamic range.
