Yes, the one I have and that I recall reading about on some website or another does have subminiature tubes.

The pin out for the connector is in the Tauson book on ARC-5 Receivers.  It does not provide other data, such as B+ requirements, but you could start out at 28VDC for B+  and go up from there until it sounds good.

I was thinking of making it a receiver for the 160 - 190 KHZ band, since should be able to cover that range with minimal mods and has a BFO.  Don't know how it would stack up against a BC-453 or R-11A.
