NOT a sonobuoy. It's a PPN-7.
Think the Rebecca-Eureka system.... used by the Pathfinders of WWII para
drops.
The PPN-1s were in the very first para drops, before the soldiers started
being air dropped into occupied europe. They are RADAR transponders. Those
worked w/ the APN-2 and BC-929-A.
The PPN-1s are among the rarest of WW II kit, and a clean one will fetch
>$10,000; the later version, the PPN-2, are almost as rare.
The one on eBay is a much later version.
