My bride claims I'm the total number of nuts that she can possibly take.

I've discarded the retaining nut for K7IRK's excellent suggestion to put 
it somewhere on the tool itself.

solution.  You could also tap the body of the crank drive but in 
stainless it takes a bit more doing.  This will work fine.
