Jay,
GF-10 was procurred for Naval Reserve. Likewise two or three other models.
They will have green background nameplates.
The or some early RS-38's apparently had Tip and Ring reversed (key on
Ring). I've never known whether this was deliberate or a production mistake.
The red band means one that has been corrected. Why a 52286 would have a red
banded mic jack I don't know. I once had an NOS RS-38-A (or 51004-A to be
more precise) with a red-banded plug and an instruction sheet that mentioned
that key was connected to Tip. Unfortunately, I sold the mic and forgot to
copy the sheet. Apparently they must have gotten or thought they had
gotten all of the wrong ones corrected as later production didn't have red bands.
