RCA RT-128A/ARC-21 AM/CW followed by its RCA USB upgrade to the RT-400/ARC-65.
For real power, the 1000-watt Collins AN/ARC-58 (18Z-3) was the top-of-line.
The USN had no equivalents to these sets.

By the early 1960s, another Collins design became what is likely the most
widely used aircraft HF set of all time in all places for both commercial and
military service...the 618T-series. The military has had several versions of
the 618T that were used by all services, with just the AN/ARC-94 (618T-2) and
the AN/ARC-102 (618T-3) to name two.

While all this evolution was going on, on older aircraft into the 1970s a few
of our favorite sets could still be found flying. Those like the USAF AN/ARC-8
(Combo of AN/ARR-11 [BC-348-*] and AN/ART-13A) or the USN AN/ARC-25 (Combo of
AN/ARR-15 and AN/ART-13). And even the USN AN/ARC-2 (at NAS Corpus Christi)!
