[ARC5] OT: UPS Ground Insanity

I abandoned UPS several years ago after using them for well over 30-years when virtually everything that I shipped and received that went through their Mesquite (Dallas area), Texas, hub started getting damaged.  Even small, light weight, boxes often arrived damaged.  I get parts shipments from Mouser which is located less than 50-miles from me that would arrive with badly damaged boxes.  Mouser knows that UPS damages packages going through Mesquite and would use much larger boxes with LOTS of protection inside the boxes.  The parts usually made it fine, but the boxes were in shambles.

Within the past couple of months, I have been requesting FedEx Ground and the shipments arrive usually in the morning and not late in the afternoon, or even as late as 10:00 PM, depending on the driver with UPS.  The shipments usually make it the next business day with both carriers.  So far, I haven't had any problems with FedEx Ground including several packages received that were definitely very badly packed and even came across the country.

I have had extremely good luck with FedEx GROUND, not so much with
FedWrex AIR. The GROUND truck goes right past my door every day.

Same here: custom-made custom-fitted crates made by me out of 3/4 inch
plywood. I have shipped RAL, R-389, and other such with no damage...so
far.
