   I was about 14 when I got my first APN-1 and disassembled it.
I left the dynomotor in it and used it to make some mobile projects
running the dynomotor off 12VDC. Lower B+ but worked just fine.
Took it with the box packed with tubes, parts and tools on a trip to
Miami, Florida thinking I was going to be bored on the trip but found it
more interesting once I discovered Hamshack Electronics, a surplus
house there. Returned back to Tennessee with a transmitter of some
unknown make with 813's and 811As in it and two power supplies.
Cost me $25 in 1965. It soon became a 2x813 amplifier after returning
home.  Wonder if HS electronics is still there.
